When Can I Start Using my West Virginia Medical Marijuana Card?
Legal protection as a Patient is effective immediately upon obtaining the card. In terms of dispensaries, they will most likely be opening sometime in Summer 2021. This does not necessarily mean you will have to wait until then to purchase marijuana, though.
Certain states with established medical marijuana programs, like Pennsylvania for example, may offer reciprocity for West Virginia medical marijuana patients. This means that once you obtain your West Virginia medical marijuana card, you could potentially go to a state that offers reciprocity and purchase medical marijuana products from their dispensaries. This would give patients an option to obtain medical marijuana as soon as they get their card without having to wait for local West Virginia Dispensaries.
We will be keeping our patients up to date with all of the specific details regarding reciprocity and dispensary openings as more information develops.
